Henry Frank Trujillo (71) of Raton and Albuquerque, New Mexico, was called home to our Lord on March 5, 2023, surrounded by his loved ones.
Henry was born in Raton, New Mexico to parents Leo and Jennie Trujillo, and brother to Mary Jean Trujillo Zinn and Leroy Trujillo. Henry now is reunited with his whole family in heaven.
In his life, Henry loved to work with his hands and was a gifted and able Mechanic, and if he was working on an old Chevy, watch out! He was also an amazing Handyman and had his own business helping out his community of Albuquerque.
His customers loved his work and news spread and his business grew and steadied with many repeat customers. He was known for his craftsmanship. Henry could fix just about anything. Many of his customers and friends considered him to be “Old School”, and with a wonderful work ethic, no-nonsense attitude, and a skill set from carpentry to electrician. One of his customers told his family that “He is one in a million, people just don’t have the same skills as he does”. He even refurbished a 1951, 3100 Chevy “Bomb” Truck. Some may say he was a “Jack of All Trades”.
He was considered a true friend, a real person of his word, who never wanted to let anyone down. He was a loving Father and Grandfather, loyal and kind, and had an amazing sense of humor.
Henry loved his home state New Mexico and loved being a New Mexican. He adored the food, the culture, and his hometown Raton.
Believe it or not, Henry was a cat person. Cats were his favorite. Over the years Henry has been a cat dad to Tisha, Tobey, and lastly Zippy.
He loved to travel. He traveled many times to Alaska to visit his In-Laws, where he loved to go fishing. Henry was an avid Disney fanatic. He really enjoyed going to Disneyland and Disney World and was a hard-core Mickey Mouse fan.
Henry enjoyed his family and loved spending time with them, dinners or even eating at the casinos, and movies, and relaxing at home. He really enjoyed his granddaughters and spent as much time as he could with them. He was always there for them for advice or help and teaching them to work with their hands so they too could be handy without relying on others.
Sometimes Henry could be stubborn, it was that tenacity that kept him going even while he was beating Lung Cancer a couple of years ago that ultimately led to him having a lung resection. Not many people are able to overcome Lung Cancer. He made an amazing recovery. Sadly, a sudden heart attack is what led to his death.
He is survived by his best friend and lifelong partner whom he loved very much, and who had known since they were children Shamie Spence, three daughters, Cassandra Marie Cordova, Renee Spence, and Christina Trujillo Worden Meacham, three granddaughters, Mykel Elizabeth, Marissa, and Olivia, along with many relatives that are dear to his heart including his Aunt Aimee, Aunt Lucy, and too many cousins to name from the clans of Martinez, Cordova, Bernal, Holguin, Trujillo.
Solemn rosary and mass will be held on April 21st at 11 am at St. Patrick’s/St. Joseph’s Catholic Church located at 105 Buena Vista St. Raton, New Mexico with Father Woytavich officiating. Private burial to occur at Mount Calvary Cemetery.
