Eleanor A. Romero

Eleanor A. Romero gained her wings at the age of ninety on December 30th, 2022. Eleanor was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, friend, and longtime resident of Springer, NM.
Eleanor was born on October 18th, 1932 in El Rito, NM. Eleanor married Salomon Romero on April 15th, 1950. Together they had fourteen children; seven boys and seven girls. She loved her family and always told everyone how proud she was of all her children.
Eleanor retired after thirty years at Colfax General Hospital as a Dietician. After retirement, she was able to enjoy traveling to a variety of places and living life to the fullest. Later Eleanor began working for the Springer Senior Citizens as a homemaker and then worked for the Senior Companion Program as a senior companion.
She is proceeded in death by her parents Juan Gonzales, Joe Fernandez, and Delovina Fernandez, husband Salomon Romero Sr., son Anthony Romero Sr., brother Sam Fernandez, grandsons Fred Romero Jr., Jessie Garcia Sr., and Timoteo Martinez. Eleanor is survived by her children; Salomon Romero Jr. of Springer, NM; Michael Romero of Albuquerque, NM; Bob Romero (Kelly) of Bernalillo, NM; Mary Alice Gutierrez of Raton, NM; Fred Romero Sr. of Raton, NM; Juanita Ybarra (Thomas) of Roy, NM; Anita Martinez (Tim) of Wagon Mound, NM; Theresa Abreu of Las Vegas, NM; Albert Romero (Cathy) of Springer, NM; Christina Romero of Albuquerque, NM; Dolores Romero of Cimarron, NM; Juan Romero (Debbie) of Springer, NM; Lenore Montoya (Adam) of Springer, NM. Daughter-in-law Bernadette Romero, Sisters; Dorothy Nevarez (Mel) of Burleson, TX; Mabel Santana (Pascual) of Commerce City,
CO; Joanne Herrera (Javier) of Gilcrest, CO; brother Rudy
(Johnny) Gonzales (Santana) of Denver, CO, and numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-children. Recitation of the most Holy Rosary will be February 24 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Springer recited by Connie Chavez followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Springer with Fr. Trieu as the Celebrant. The Rite of Committal and inurnment will follow at the Springer Cemetery.
Eleanor Romero will be greatly missed and never forgotten.
