Hollace Gearldyne Begano Obituary
Hollace Gearldyne “Gerri” Begano, 87, was born in Seminole, Oklahoma, to Allen and Katharine Peavy on July 27, 1935.
Her mother was a Pentecostal preacher and her father a deacon of the church. Appropriately, she spent the first quarter of her life with a strong presence in the church, even singing hymns for the congregation.
Her family eventually moved to California and in 1959, after just three months of dating, she married Bob Begano. Together they raised five children in several cities across Los Angeles.
After selling their Official Police Garage business in San Pedro, CA, Bob and Gerri retired to Starkville, Colorado. It is there that in the early morning hours of February 04, 2023, after a long fight with COPD, she took her final breath at home surrounded by her children.
In life, Gerri took great joy in the company of her friends and her family. Time spent with them was often filled with board games, dancing, and lively conversation. In her alone time, she enjoyed gardening, crosswords and sudoku, painting, and decorating every inch of her home in a style uniquely hers, that wowed many.
Most endearingly her kitchen was home to the Coffee House where every morning for the past couple of decades her family and sometimes friends would gather for hot coffee, cookies, and cracking up while catching up.
Gerri was predeceased by her parents Allen and Katharine Peavy and her husband Bob Begano. She leaves behind her older brother Leumoin (Etta Lee) Peavy of Winnemucca, Nevada, and little sister Frances (Steve) Collins of Clovis, California; her children, Lewana (Tim) Mangino of Starkville, Colorado, Trena (Carlos) Diaz of Carson, California, Zane (Carrie) Begano of Fort Pierce, Florida, Bob Jr. (Cyndi) Begano of Port St. Lucie, Florida, Shawna (Billy) Gallegos of Starkville, Colorado, and Anna (Brian) Kothera of Burton, Ohio; as well as 17 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
Services to be held this summer and announced at a later date.
