Ronald W. Duran

Our hearts are in pieces with the unexpected passing of our beloved Ronald W. Duran on December 5, 2022, surrounded by his immediate family. He was also known to others as Dutch, Ronnie, dad, Papo, and grandpa.
Ron Duran was born on July 28, 1954, in Raton New Mexico to Henry Dutch Duran and Ageda (Armijo) Duran. He was the 10th child of 12 children. Ron was proceeded in death by his grandparents, parents, mother-in-law Susan Sosa, sister Lillian Duran, brother Anthony (Pepsi) Duran, his best friend Tito Cordova, and other numerous family and friends.
Ron graduated from Raton High School in 1973. Ron was employed at Hollow Metal / Southwestern for over 40+ years. He was an amazing artist often helping his children and grandchildren with school projects. He was an avid animal lover; Especially his dog Hippo and crow Mr. C. He had a green thumb and loved plants. He always had a love for old cars and trucks. He loved to drink Pepsi and always had to have a Hersey chocolate bar. He was a hard-working man who was devoted to his family and a diehard Philadelphia Eagles fan.
He is survived by his loving wife Sue (Valentine) Duran. Sons: Dutch (Sarah) Duran of Colorado Springs, C0., Matt (Sara) Duran of Raton. Daughters: Agatha (Paul) Martinez of Brighton Colorado, Suzette (Larry) Berg of Raton, and Roni (Leroy) Sandoval of Raton. Grandchildren: Ezeikel (Shyla), Matthew, Reona, Joseph (Angel), Jeremiah, Michael Angel, Paul Jr., Angelo, Amethyst, Larry Jr, Analiese, Silas, Alayah, Leroy Jr., Kaylee, Madaline, and Nehemiah. Great grandchildren: Irie, Octavia, and Elena.
Siblings: Danny Fratterelli of Raton, Dorothy Garcia of Raton, Bobby (Joann) Duran of Raton, Billy (Paloma) Duran of Spain, Julia (Gilbert) Martinez of Raton, Leanor Duran of Raton, Joyce (Pat) Salazar of Raton, Patricia (Harvey) Martinez of Pueblo, CO, Louis Duran of Raton, and Leonard Duran of Raton.
Recitation of The Most Holy Rosary will be on December 19, 2022, at 11:00 AM at St. Patrick’s/St. Joseph’s Catholic Church recited by Frank Cimino. Mass of Christian Burial will be on December 19, 2022, at 11:30 AM with Fr. Darrel (DJ) Segura as the Celebrant. Interment will follow at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
Arrangements for Ronald W. Duran are under the direction of the Alderette-Pomeroy Funeral Home of Raton.
