Barbara Anna Martinez

Barbara Anna Martinez, the lifelong resident of Cimarron, New Mexico, passed away on October 28th, 2022, at the age of 63 in Rio Rancho, New Mexico.
Barbara was born on September 7, 1959, in Raton, New Mexico to the late Simon and Margaret (Romero) Garcia.
Barbara began dating the love of her life, Leo Martinez in 1975. They married in 1976, and later welcomed two children, Leo in 1985 and Emma in 2002.
Barbara is survived by her loving husband Leo Martinez, son Leo Martinez and wife Toni, two precious grandsons Leo and Maddox, and daughter Emma Martinez, one brother Simon Garcia, sisters Susan Julian and Katherine Behrendsen and husband Paul, and special nephew Steve Gonzales and wife Ashley. Barbara is also survived by mother-in-law Flora Martinez, sisters-in-law Martha Sedillo and husband Phillip, Christina Arias and husband John, brother-in-law Edwin “Wiggs” Martinez and wife JoAnn, nephews Mathias Olson and wife Ashley, Edwin Martinez and wife Delaina, Damian Arias and wife Dominica, Jesse Martinez and Santiago Arias; nieces Nicole Sedillo, Brittney Archuleta and husband Isaah, Elizabeth Sedillo, Angelique Sedillo, half-sisters Marietta (Jorge) Garcia Ovalle Sanchez and Cindy Allen and many cousins, aunts, uncles, great nieces and nephews.
Barbara was preceded in death by her father-in-law Leo Martinez, her birth parents Margaret (Romero) Garcia and Simon Garcia, maternal grandparents who loved and raised her from the age of 4, Trancito and Aurelia Romero, and paternal grandparents Simon and Manuelita Garcia and countless other loved ones.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Presbyterian Rust Hospital in Rio Rancho for their compassionate care during Barbara’s short stay. They would also like to thank all their family and friends for their love, support, and prayers.
Recitation of the Most Holy Rosary will be on Saturday, November 19, 2022, at 10:00 AM at the Sister Hildegard Parish Hall recited by Patsy Zamora. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30 AM at the Sister Hildegard Parish Hall with Father Trieu as the Celebrant. Inurnment will follow at Mt. View Cemetery.
