The Lady Tigers hosted the Taos Lady Tigers for a Tuesday September 20, Volleyball match in Tiger Gym in Raton with Taos managing to scrape out the win with two games only two points apart.
The JV team took the court first and took the match to three games with a solid win in game one. Taos came back in the second game and kept it close all game and finally pulled out a 25-22 win. It was all Raton in the third and deciding game of the match as Raton took the lead and never looked back winning by 10.
The varsity match was a barn burner as Raton fell behind in game one then came from behind to tie the game at 24. The tie continued at 25, 26 and 27 before Raton rallied for a 29-27 win.
During game two Giana Marez became deadly with the spike sending several over the net to give Raton a 8-0 lead. ?This time Taos rallied back and tied the game at 13 and 14. From there it was back and forth with a tie game at 21 and 22. Taos broke away and finished off the win by two.
Game three was all Taos as they took the lead 8-1. Raton however said no way and came back to tie the game at nine. Taos then took over and spread the lead out to a 15-9 game. They went on to complete the game with a nine point spread for the win.
Game four was once again a Taos game taking a 20-12 lead and looking for the easy win. Then it was a 24-19 game and wallah it was tied at 24. Taos pulled a rabbit out of the hat and finished it off with a two point win to take the match 3-1.
