Richard A. Trujillo age 71 passed away at home on June 17, 2022,
Richard was born on November 1, 1950, to Rafaelita and Hank Gutierrez, he was also raised and loved dearly by his Aunt and Uncle Lucy and Rudy Trujillo, all of whom preceded him in his death. Also preceding Richard in his death is his wife Kathy Trujillo.
Richard is survived by his children, Rich Trujillo Jr, Henry (Hijinia) Trujillo, Michael Trujillo, Joe Trujillo, Robert Sanchez Jr, Katrina Sanchez, Brett (Stiletto) Stelitano, Jaylynn (Mark) Currier, and Ashley Ward. Brother, Manuel Gutierrez.
Grandchildren John, Skylar, Patrick, and Jaidyn Trujillo.
Richard served his country in the United States Army National Guard for six years. He held occupations as a Coal Miner and a firefighter for Trinidad Fire Department for several years. Richard spent thirty-five years in law enforcement, working for the Las Animas County Sheriff’s Department, Trinidad Police Department, and Colorado Department of Corrections where he retired.
Visitation is Tuesday, June 28th, 3-7 pm. at the Comi Chapel. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on June 29th at 10 AM at Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
Interment will follow at the Trinidad Catholic Cemetery.
Active pallbearers are Joe Trujillo, Henry Trujillo, Patrick Trujillo, John Trujillo, Brett Stelitano, and Robert Sanchez Jr.
Honorary Pallbearers are Trinidad Fire Department, Las Animas County Sheriff’s Department, and Colorado Department of Corrections.
Arrangements were made under the direction of the Comi Funeral Home.
