Elsie M. Lark, a long-time resident of Englewood, Colorado, and former resident of Raton, New Mexico, passed away on May 16, 2022.
Elsie was born on August 25, 1937, in Raton, NM to Arthur and Constance “Connie ” Lark. She was a 1955 graduate of Raton High School and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in education from colleges in Greeley and Fort Collins Colorado. She taught English and History in schools in the Littleton, CO area throughout her career.
Elsie was an accomplished singer and pianist. She was involved with many church choirs and performed solos throughout the years. She loved the Denver Broncos, traveling and playing card games and backgammon with family and friends. She was a prankster who enjoyed laughing and playing with her nieces and nephews.
Elsie was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Constance “Connie” Lark, her sister Ann Barthlemeh and brother-in-law Thomas C. Barthlemeh, her brother, Thomas C. Lark, nephew Thomas S. Barthlemeh and great niece Felicia Lark.
She is survived by her sister Marie Fulkerson of Raton, niece Loveda Sawyer and husband Chuck of Miles City, Montana, niece Leslie Lark and husband Edward of Raton, NM, niece Sherry Martinez and husband Celestino of Big Spring, TX, niece Wendy Barthlemeh of Great Falls, Montana and nephew Arthur Fulkerson and Eric of Raton, NM, as well as many great nieces and nephews and great, great nieces and nephews.
Elsie was blessed to have several people who were special, steadfast friends throughout her life: Jan White, Sara Hady, Bonnie Short, Beverly Havens, and Esther Benevidez of Denver, Colorado, and Kathy Jordan of Alabama.
Elsie will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
A graveside service will be held for family and friends on June 4, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. in the Fairmont Cemetery.
