2022 ARBOR DAY CHILDREN’S TREE PROGRAM
As part of Stewardship Week, which runs April 24 through May 1, 2022, the Colfax Soil & Water Conservation District (Colfax SWCD) will be honoring Arbor Day 2022 with the help of the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) and our local INBank of Raton.
Colfax SWCD will be in a collaborative project with the above-mentioned in presenting to the 3rd-grade students of Colfax County the importance of Arbor Day in ways of how the forest can benefit our environment. Colorado Blue Spruce, Englemann Spruce, and Ponderosa Pine tree seedlings will be given out to students along with tree planting instructions. NRCS Soil Conservationist, Margaret Gigante will present a short program to the school children representing Maxwell, Springer, and Raton Wednesday, April 27th; Eagle Nest and Cimarron on Thursday, April 28th.
On Friday, April 29th, the official day to celebrate Arbor Day, the representatives will be at INBank with handouts and tree seedlings to give out to the public.
If you have a question or need further information, contact Kareyl Vatlestad at the Colfax Soil & Water Conservation District office at 445-9471, Ext. 5.
Also, if you have any pictures of past trees/seedlings that you received from us whether it be at the bank or during the 3rd grade presentations we would love to see their progress.
