SERVICES: Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, April 2, 2022, at the First United Methodist Church in Clayton, New Mexico with Rev. Kenneth W. Tidmore, pastor officiating. BACKGROUND: Renee Webster-Valdez was born on January 29, 1964, in Clayton, NM to Arlene (Vavra) Webster and Forrest “Pete” Webster. She attended school in Clayton with the class of 1982 and participated in basketball, track, and band. Renee married Jerry Valdez and relocated to Las Cruces, NM, where they lived on the White Sands Missile Range. Renee and Jerry had two children; Steven and Nicholas. While living in Las Cruces, Renee worked as a substitute teacher and a manager at Corral West Western Store. Renee separated from Jerry and later met her current partner, Thomas Fong in 1999. Thomas and Renee had their daughter, Brianna. Renee and Thomas relocated back to Clayton in 2003 to live closer to the family. She worked as a substitute teacher for multiple years, the secretary at the FUM Church, a loan officer at the Farmer’s and Stockman’s Bank for 8 years, and the City Clerk/Treasurer at the Town of Clayton until 2019. Renee loved gardening, crafts, and spending time outside. She attended and watched almost every sporting event of her children and nieces/nephews. Renee also helped organize many town gathering events and as a member of the Rotary Club, she assisted greatly for many years with the Old Western Dance and Nick Payton Christmas Basket, along with their other events. Renee has touched so many lives and always left a great impact wherever she went. Her smile was contagious. Renee will be remembered, loved, and greatly missed for years and years to come. Renee was preceded in death by her father, Forrest “Pete” Webster, maternal grandparents Rudolph and Gladys Vavra of Newman Grove, NE. and Paternal grandparents C.E. and Lutishe Webster of Clayton, NM.
She is survived by her: Partner: Thomas Fong of Clayton, NM. Mother: Arlene Webster of Clayton, NM. Sister: Sondra Martinez and her husband Roger of Clayton, NM. Brother: Larry Webster and his wife Debbie of Rye, CO. Sons: Steven Valdez and his wife Brandy of Las Cruces, NM. Nicholas Valdez and his wife Mariah, children Ashlynn and Jordan, of Clayton, NM. Daughter: Brianna Fong of Pueblo, CO. Grandson: Nicholas Valdez Jr. of Dumas, TX. Nieces and nephews: Mal Gaytan and her husband Gabe, children Gabby and Ben, of Eunice, NM. Paige Goldstein and her husband Alex of Lubbock, TX. Derek Webster and his wife Leticia of Rye, CO. Darnell, Katrina, Ambriz, Malikai, and sister-in-law, Rebecca of Las Cruces, NM. And her four-legged best girls: Kiki and Coco.
