In Loving Memory of Irene Miera

Irene Miera, age 92, died on Saturday, March 12, 2022, at her home in Beenham, New Mexico.

Rosary will be recited at 9:30 AM on Wednesday, March 16, 2022, and Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated following at 10:00 AM at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Clayton, New Mexico with Fr. Chris Martinez as Celebrant. Burial will follow in the Ojo Bonito Cemetery in Barney, New Mexico by Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton.

Irene Otelia (Sanchez) Miera was born on June 28, 1929, in Barney, New Mexico to Macario Damian Sanchez and Maria Inez (Martinez) Sanchez. A lifelong resident of the Beenham community, Irene married Valentine F. Miera on October 1, 1948, in Clayton, New Mexico and he preceded her in death on June 5, 2010. Irene was one of a kind. Loving mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and friend to many. Busdriver, trapper, bread maker, quilt maker, rancher, club lady, and volunteer just to touch on a few endeavors of her very busy life. One of her greatest accomplishments was being named New Mexico Pioneer Woman of the Year and celebrating big on her 90th birthday. She will be dearly missed at the County Fair and the Union County Health Fair. She definitely left a place in this community that will never be filled. There are not enough words to describe the impact she made on so many lives, but if the only thing that we do is leave memories, she accomplished that. Every minute to her was precious and she never wasted one. She woke up every day wanting to serve God. Always tried to find the best in everyone and everything, helping wherever she could. Her selflessness, kindness, and honesty in all her many deeds and actions are a testament to that. In addition to her husband and parents, Irene was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Damian Sanchez and Max Sanchez, and by a sister, Fidelia Taylor.
