In Loving Memory of Ernest Wayne Brown

Ernest Wayne Brown “Downtown Ernie Brown” was born on June 22, 1979, and passed away on January 3, 2022.  He is survived by his children – Tierra Garrett and Kevin Garrett, his Mother – Beverly Baca and boyfriend Dennis Sanchez, Brothers – Warren Brown and girlfriend Jennie Gates and John and wife Lynda Brown, Sisters – Desiree Silva, Teena Reif, and Danette Garcia and Brother Justin Silva and adopted Mother April Gomez, Grandparents – Roselee Baca, Wesley, and Betty Brown, Uncles – Terry and wife Karen Baca, Dennis Baca, Wesley Brown, and Walter Brown, Nieces – Ivy Brown and Sapphire Acevedo, and Nephew – Eric Acevedo, Cousins – Chris “Porter” and wife Heather Baca, Jennifer and husband Tim Johnson, Jonathan Meadows, Garrett Johnson, Brayden Baca, Isabelle Johnson, Kashton Baca, Charlotte Rose Baca, Cheyenne Brown, Dakota Brown, and Conagher Brown, along with numerous other cousins. He is preceded in death by Grandfather – Ernest Baca, Great-Grandparents – Manuel and Lala Caridad and Alfredo and Seferina Baca, Aunt Marcella Encinias, Uncle Ted Ortiz, Cousins –  Shannon Ortiz Hastings, Keith Brown, and Cole Brown.

From early on, Ernie was always giving back to the community, especially helping out kids.  Starting with helping his grandparents and the Lions Club with the City of Bethlehem. Helping out the Optimist Club with youth basketball, Raton Rodeo Association, Team Builders, little league, and the Gate City Music Festival.  Continuing to this day with his involvement with the Raton Elks Lodge.  Anything involving kids, Ernie always loved to help out.

Ernie started working with Pinnacle Propane in 2013 here in Raton and was transferred to Albuquerque about a year and a half ago. He worked there as a customer care representative.

He enjoyed doing woodworking projects and spending time fishing with Kevin.  He also loved anything Oklahoma Sooners and the Kansas City Chiefs. He also enjoyed his time being a DJ and soundman for Colfax Reunion.

Services for Ernie Brown are Saturday, January 8th at 10 am at the Shuler Theater with Monty McGowen officiating.  In lieu of flowers, a scholarship fund will be set up in his memory through the Raton Elks Lodge.  Please make checks payable to Raton Elks Lodge.

Arrangements for Ernest Wayne Brown are under the direction of the Alderette-Pomeroy Funeral Home.
