Donald “Donnie” Nicholson, age 72, died on Tuesday, September 21, 2021, at his home in Clayton.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.
Donald “Donnie” Nicholson was born on March 28, 1949, in Clayton, New Mexico to Earl D. Nicholson and Lois (Barnes) Nicholson. Donnie graduated from Clayton High School in 1967 and attended Texas Tech in Lubbock and Graduated. Donnie worked for John Deere in Dalhart for a few years and then worked for the town of Clayton and worked as a surveyor for the state highway department and worked for Plains Electric and for Dowell Well. He bought a machine shop and operated it. He was the City Manager in Stratford, Texas for a few years and then returned to Clayton and continued operating his machine shop. He loved shooting sports and enjoyed reloading. Donnie was preceded in death by his parents and by a sister, Sharryon Nicholson on August 3, 2021.

1 DAUGHTER: Jennifer Dawn York of Nocona, Texas.
2 GRANDSONS: Brady Jessie York and Jett Lynn York both of Nocona, Texas.
