Mesquite, NV – Bernadine R George, 74, passed away on August 11, 2021 unexpectedly from a short battle with kidney cancer. She was born November 12th 1946 in Walsenburg Colorado to Robert and Josephine (Peps) Biundo. She married Robert (Bob) George on May 8th 1965.
Bernie, as she was commonly known, was a stranger to no one. She grew up in Raton, NM and participated in many school activities, her favorite being cheerleading. She attended Eastern New Mexico University and University of New Mexico to pursue a career in teaching. Plans changed and she spent her professional life as an office manager and business owner, along with her husband, providing accounting and tax services in Raton and the surrounding area for more than 40 years. When not working she enjoyed family, friends, reading, vacationing and video poker.
Bernie is preceded in death by her parents Robert and Josephine Biundo and grandchildren Kalyn Gonzales and Lyla Rose George. She is survived by her husband of 56 years Robert George, daughter Barbra (Bobbie) Gonzales and husband Jimmy, grand-daughters Jessica and Jerica Gonzales, great-grandsons Zach and Ryan, son Bernerd George and wife Stacy, grandchildren Jared, Keira, and Morgan, sister Eva Chavez, nephews Robert and Adam, and great-niece Jamie.
A reception will be held at Raton Country Club for friends and family on Friday, September 10th 2021 from 1:00pm – 4:00pm. A private family funeral will precede the reception.
It saddens me to hear of the passing of Bernie George…. I have been a friend of the family for many many years. It saddens me to see my good friend to have to go threw such sadness of the loss of her sister….
