Michael Joseph Arko, age 65, passed away in his home in West Monroe, LA on May 26, 2021 following a sudden illness. He was born August 15, 1955 in Eagle Nest, NM to Leopold Arko Jr and Lorene Stoker-Arko and was a long-time resident of Raton. He worked many years at the Kaiser Steel Coal Mine and later at Thompson Tire and Towing in Raton, NM and then as a tire technician at Sam’s Club in West Monroe, LA where he recently retired.
Michael was proceeded in death by his parents, his sister Janet Johnson and a brother William Arko. He is survived by four children; daughters Rosemary Arko and Joanna Arko of Raton, NM and sons Jonathan Arko of Las Vegas, NM and David Arko of Raton, NM; one grandson Justin L. Arko, siblings, Agnes Gibson and spouse of Eagle Nest, NM, Ernest Arko and family of Albuquerque, NM, Anna Pabst and spouse of Ruidoso, NM, Leo Arko III and family of Maxwell, NM, Rita Butts and family of Wisconsin, Nina Arko-Hay and family of Santa Fe, NM and, David Arko and family of Denver, CO; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
A barbaque and celebration of love for Michael will be Sunday July 4th 2021 at 1:00 P.M. at the Eagel Nest Comunnity Center in Eagle Nest, NM. In lieu of flowers his daughters request donations be given in his name to the charity of their choice.
