– America lost a true patriot on March 29, 2021, when CMSGT Robert (Robbie) A. Roberts Jr., passed away unexpectedly. Robbie was a decorated USAF veteran of 30 years. He served his country in Vietnam and during the Gulf War. While he was assigned to the Stealth Fighter unit, at Langley AFB, VA., his service earned him a Bronze Star. After Robbie retired from the Air Force, he continued his love and passion of American history working at the NRA Whittington Center, as a previous Assistant Executive Director and most currently the Curator of the Frank Brownell Museum of the Southwest, where he gathered artifacts, created exhibits, and commissioned art, all celebrating and preserving American history and our western heritage. Robbie was an integral part of running the NRAWC, there were very few aspects of the center he was not involved with. Robbie was a fierce and loyal friend, an active shooter, and one of the finest firearms instructors in New Mexico. A man with the 2nd amendment embedded in his heart, his love for the sport of shooting and devotion to the cause of firearms freedom never wavered. He leaves behind a large family, and an even larger family of friends who counted him as close as a blood relation. Robbie was born in Doylestown, PA on November 30, 1946. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert A. Roberts, Sr.; his mother Virginia; his sister Susan; his brother Gary and grandson Jeffrey Merrick. He is survived by his daughters, Billie Brewer (Frank) of Tabb, VA; Bobbie Lyn Harris (Robert & family) of Yorktown, VA; and DeAnna Kimrey (Jay) of Hampton, VA; and son Daniel of Hampton, VA; and his previous wife Marjean Allen of Hampton, VA; 7 grandchildren, Ajay Merrick, Jordan Brewer, Cory (Brianna) and Ryan Tabor, Amber and Haley Roberts and Jason Kimrey and 4 great grandchildren, Gabriel, Ethan, Gracelyn and Grayson; 2 nephews Robert and Matthew; niece Samantha and 1 great niece and 2 great nephews.
A private memorial service will be held at the NRA Whittington Center, Raton NM. The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations towards making Robbie’s dream come true with the expansion of the Frank Brownell Museum at
