Viola L. Castillo, age 98, of Palo Blanco, NM passed peacefully on March 25, 2021 at the home of her daughter Marie in Mesa, Arizona. She was born August 18, 1922 in Tinaja, NM. She married Luciano Castillo on November 28, 1941 and he preceded her in death on November 15, 2002. In addition to Luciano and her parents, Viola was preceded in death by 4 brothers and 3 sisters and one grand-daughter Dawn.
Viola and Luciano ranched in Palo Blanco and on Johnson Mesa where they raised their daughters and grandson.
Viola is survived by 6 daughters, Vera Peralta and husband Richard Herrera, grandchildren Carolyn Michael and husband Doug, Sylvia Wienberg, Miguel Peralta and wife Marcella; Virginia Chavez and husband Jimmie, grandson Stephen and wife Sheila; Patricia McBride and husband John, grandson Dennis; Marie Rodriguez, grandchildren Andrianna and Ryan; Ramona Richardson, grandsons Christopher and wife Ruth and Gerald; and Elizabeth Cruz and husband Mike. Viola has 10 great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
We will all miss Viola but find comfort in knowing that she was welcomed by her husband, Luciano, her brothers and sisters, other family and friends, in her forever home.
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, April 13, 2021, 10:00 a.m. at Mt Calvary cemetery with Father Bill Woytavich officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of the Alderette-Pomeroy Funeral Home.
