In Loving Memory of Joyce L. Frew

Joyce L. Frew, 84, received her heavenly wings on January 16, 2021, at Raton, New Mexico. The daughter of Meredith and Esther Coppock, she was born March 8, 1936, in Troy, Ohio. Joyce was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.
She was preceded in death by her youngest son, Seth Smith, her loving husband of 38 years, Charlie Frew, and two sisters, Sharon Augustson and Susan Smith. She and Charlie owned Big John’s Gift Shop, Thunderbird Gifts, and Holiday Gifts in Raton and Trinidad, CO throughout the years. Joyce loved to play golf, bridge, games, and travel with family and friends. She was the mother of four sons, Steve, Brad, Bryce, and Seth, and the step-mother to Dean, Dirk, Danny, and DeeDee.
She loved to watch her grandkids and great-grandkids participate in any activity possible from football to giving speeches. She was a very active member of the First United Methodist Church in Raton, New Mexico. She felt closest to the Lord when she was praising him in song, she loved being a member of the church choir.
Survivors include sons Steve (Brenda) Smith, Brad (Sue) Smith, Bryce (Barbara) Smith. and daughter-in-law Myra (Jim) Travers, twenty-two grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, one brother, Jack (Belinda) Coppock, and one sister, Maxine Gibbons.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, January 23, 2021, at First United Methodist Church at 1501 S. 4th Street, in Raton, NM at 10:00 AM. The family will be greeting friends and relatives after the services in the parking lot.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations are made to the Joyce L. Frew Memorial Account at FNB of New Mexico to be given to Cystic Fibrosis research.
Arrangements and celebration of love for Joye L. Frew are under the direction of the Yaksich-Long Funeral Home of Raton.

    Joyce was such a joy to be around. I never heard her bad mouth anyone. She loved people and it showed. She was a very goid conversationalist. I am thankful she was my friend.
    God bless her family and friends who have to learn to do life without her.
