In Loving Memory of Shirley Ann Portillos

Shirley Ann Portillos passed away comfortably in her home on October 7, 2020. Shirley was born in Springer NM on January 4, 1937, to Father William Roy and Mother Beatrice Blea, both of whom preceded her in death.  Also, preceding Shirley in death was her loving and dedicated husband Joe P. Portillos Jr. and granddaughter Roxanne Martinez.  Shirley is survived by son Joe A. Portillos III and wife Elizabeth, daughters Tina L. Martinez and boyfriend Salo, Danita A. (Dee Dee Cruz and husband Danny, Cheri Turay, and husband Moses.  Brother Samuel Roy and wife Gloria.  She is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Shirley lived her life in love with Joe P. Portillos Jr. and both enjoyed small-town life and raising their children.  Shirley was an Avon Representative for 37years and often received the President Club award.  Shirley had over 100 customers at one point in her career.  Shirley loved shopping and spoiling her daughter’s with pretty clothes and enjoying a girl’s day out. 

Shirley enjoyed visiting with the many who would come by to visit especially her brother Sam and wife Gloria to get caught up. Shirley will be greatly missed by all and now can join her husband and other loved ones in Jesus’s loving arms.

Shirley also worked at the Colfax County Hospital for a number of years. 

Recitation of The Most Holy Rosary, recited by Deacon Ed Olona at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 24, 2020, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church Springer, NM followed by Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. with Father Daniel Balizan, Officiating.  Inurnment will follow at the Springer Cemetery. 

Per state and Local COVID-19 guidelines and requirements, social distancing and the use of face masks are required inside the Church as well as at the Cemetery.  At this time, services are limited to the family due to occupancy and restrictions.

Arrangements for Shirley Ann Portillos are under the direction of the Alderette-Pomeroy Funeral Home.
