Mary Lou (Schnitzer) Pitman, age 89, died on Monday, October 5, 2020, at her home in Fort Sumner, New Mexico.
Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, October 9, 2020, at the Clayton Memorial Cemetery in Clayton, New Mexico with Pastor Trever Bulls, Jerry Rice, and Karl Ensz officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton, New Mexico.
Mary Lou (Schnitzer) Pitman was born on October 23, 1923, in Texline, Texas to Edward Frank Henry Schnitzer and Maggie (Relethford) Schnitzer. She grew up in Texline and worked for Burns Lumbar. Mary Lou married Billy Pitman on December 15, 1951, in Clayton, New Mexico and he preceded her in death on February 5, 1994. They made their home in the Wheeless, Oklahoma community and farmed for many years. While living in the Wheeless area, they also operated a store for several years and Mary Lou served as the Post Master for 15 years. They later moved to Clayton, New Mexico. After Billy died Mary Lou went to work for Isaacs Hardware in Clayton. In addition to her husband and parents, Mary Lou was preceded in death by her brother; Eddie Perry Schnitzer and his wife Ethel Schnitzer, and by a son-in-law; Larry Bulls.
SURVIVORS:
1 SON: William Pitman and his wife Denise Gail of Fort Sumner, New Mexico.
2 DAUGHTERS: Linda Bulls of Boise City, Oklahoma and Brenda LeTorte and her husband Mike of Marshall, Texas.
7 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren.
And nieces and nephews: Frank Schnitzer, Tim Schnitzer and Jeanne Marie Mulkey.
