Arleen Rael-Martinez, age 53, passed away in the early morning hours of July 13, 2020, after a short battle with breast cancer. She was born on July 24, 1966, in Albuquerque, New Mexico to Jose Nestor Rael Jr. of Truchas, NM, and Maria Cecilia Velasquez-Rael of El Valle, New Mexico.
Arleen is a graduate of Raton High School Class of 1984. She is survived by her four adult children. Patrick K. Chavez Jr, his wife Daniele and their children Violet, Tres, and Rosie of Wichita Falls, Texas; Don Diego Martinez and his son Apollo of Wichita Falls, Texas; Sara Marie Martinez and fiancé Jesse Esquivel and son Nehemiah of Southern California; and Michael Martinez and wife Vanessa and son Nolan. Her siblings, Lorri Sedillo and Husband Martin of Albuquerque, and brothers Joseph Rael and Roger Rael of Raton, New Mexico, and her ex-husband Adam P. Martinez. She also had numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, family, and friends.
Her life was a living example of the Bible verse, Ephesians 4:32 — “And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ.”
She will always be remembered for her faith in Christ, the enormous amount of love she had for life, her children, family, friends, country, and her love for her football team, the Dallas Cowboys. Arleen Robin Rael was that person who brightened up our lives and assured us pain is only temporary.
Arleen was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved her role as Nana. She had a vivacious personality and always made people around her laugh. She made friends everywhere she went
Please join us celebrating her life Friday, July 24 at 2:00 p.m. at Alderette-Pomeroy Funeral Home in Raton, NM. Interment will be Saturday, July 25 at Los Llanitos Cemetery in Truchas, NM at 12 noon.
