Anna Marie Romero, age 46, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2020, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her loved ones.
Anna was born on October 18, 1973, to Donald Romero and Patsy Romero, who preceded her in death along with her brother Donald.
She leaves behind her sons Phillip (Dusti) Romero, TJ Baca, Malachi (Dusty) Baca, and even though not blood, her son Matthew (Kirsten) Atencio. She is also survived by her six grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Anna was very proud of the work she has done over the years. This work includes health care and becoming a mentor of young minds. The first job her oldest son remembers her having was a CNA working at the local hospital and nursing home. She also had a career at the Veteran’s Nursing Home in Walsenburg, Co. After working in the health care side Anna moved over to being a Para Aide with the local school district. Here she helped children with their own special abilities. After doing this for many years, she eventually moved onto G.O.A.L Academy where she coached and helped students graduate from high school.
This is where Anna found her true calling.
This woman was an amazing mentor. There’s no telling how many students she helped graduate. Every time she watched those students earn their diplomas she had the biggest smile on her face.
Cremation has taken place and memorial services will most likely be held at The First Christian Church. Arrangements are being made by the family.
