Kathryn Sicco passed away on April 18th, 2020 at the Trinidad Inn Nursing Home at the age of 98.
“Kaks” as she was referred to by her family and friends, was born in 1922 to Dominic and Ann Sicco in Trinidad, Colorado. Kaks attended Holy Trinity Schools graduating in 1940. After graduating from high school, Kathryn worked as a bookkeeper for her father’s auto garage business and his popular cigar store located on the corner of Main and Commercial Streets in Trinidad. From there she was employed at Trinidad State Junior College in the Business Department where she worked until her retirement in 1984. Kathryn enjoyed painting and jewelry making from which she received numerous awards at various art shows. She also enjoyed sewing and she would make her niece’s Halloween costumes. She loved to travel and take cruises with her older sister and brother in law Marie and Joe Macaluso, and with her younger sister Helen Mariano. Kaks volunteered at the Colorado Welcome Center for over 20 years where she received a commendation for being one of the first volunteers at the Center. Kathryn also volunteered at the Mitchell Art Museum. She was very active and served as an officer for the Catholic Daughters of America. She was an office holder and planner for the Supper Club which would visit local restaurants monthly. Most of all Kaks enjoyed spending time with her family. She looked forward to her annual 4th of July picnic in her backyard each year, the visits of her nephews and nieces, and most recently when her great-nieces Meredith and Ashley Macaluso would visit her at the Trinidad Inn Nursing Home. Kathryn is survived by her nephews and nieces: Mark (Lori) Macaluso (Trinidad, Colorado), Karen (Dan) Mosley (Seattle, Washington), Patty (Jeff) Deming (Redlands, California), Cindy (Barry) Hessler (Belmont, California), Paul (Lynn) Mariano (Victorville, California), Valerie (Paul) Swiderski (Patterson, California), and Stephen (Monica) Mariano (Rome, Italy) and numerous grand nephews and nieces. Kaks will always be remembered by her family and friends as a caring, kind, compassionate person who will be sadly missed by all.
Graveside services and burial will be at the Catholic Cemetery for family, and a Memorial Mass will be held at a later date this summer,
