In Loving Memory of Frank Joseph Gagliardi

Frank Joseph Gagliardi, 93, died Saturday, January 4, 2020 at the Spanish Peaks Veteran Community Living Center in Walsenburg, CO surrounded by his family, following a brief illness.

He leaves behind his wife of 65 years, LaVerne (Alt) Gagliardi; his children Lori North of Littleton, CO; Jack (Sara) Gagliardi of Arvada, CO; and Jim (Diane) Gagliardi of Trinidad, CO; grandchildren Gordon Lancaster, Chris Lancaster, Drew Gagliardi, Kayla Gagliardi, and Tony Gagliardi. He is also survived by five great grandchildren.

He was born on January 29, 1926 in Delagua, CO to Joseph and Edith (Poyer) Gagliardi; the eldest of six children; Catherine, Rose, Lucy, August, and Joe Jr.

He graduated from Trinidad High School in 1943 and joined the Navy as an airplane mechanic in 1944. Upon completion of his service, he returned home and married LaVerne on June 12, 1954.

He began employment with the United States Postal Service in 1950 as a letter carrier/clerk and retired as Assistant Postmaster in 1981.

Frank enjoyed hunting and fishing but he could always be found at the golf course every day at 12:15 pm for a round of golf with his friends and grandson. Frank was a devoted member of the Knights of Columbus, holding many positions in the Knights until his health prevented him from attending.

Frank was very proud of all his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, and loved when his family was together celebrating.

Visitation will be Monday from 3pm-6pm at the Comi Chapel.

Rosary will be recited Monday, January 13, 2020 at 7pm t Holy Trinity Church.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday January 14, 2019 at 10am at Holy Trinity Church.

Interment will follow at the Trinidad Catholic Cemetery , with graveside services conducted by the Naval US Honor Guard.

Active pallbearers are his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In-lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Knights of Columbus or the Spanish Peaks Veteran Community Living Center in Frank’s memory
