In Loving Memory of Joe Pete Sepulveda

Joe Pete Sepulveda was greeted in Heaven by Jesus on September 1, 2019. Joe was born March 17, 1931, in Omaha, Nebraska. Preceded in death are parents, Rafael and Gabriela Sepulveda, Grandfather Antonio Chavez, along with his loving siblings, sisters: Antonia Eccher; Mary N. Richardson; Frances “Panch” Sepulveda, Father and mother in law, Fred and Pauline Banovich, Sisters in law: Elaine Abeyta and Nadine Mondragon; Grandson, Michael Martinez; Granddaughter Michelle Sepulveda; along with several nieces, nephews and a lifetime of friends who were there in Heaven to Welcome him with loving arms and walk with him into Heaven’s gate to meet his Heavenly Father Jesus Christ. Joe is survived by his wife of 64 years, Christine Banovich Sepulveda and children: Peggy Sepulveda; Pueblo, Angela Sepulveda, Trinidad, Joe F. Sepulveda, Trinidad, John (Natalie) Sepulveda; Denver, Jason (Tonya) Sepulveda, Jeffery Sepulveda, Trinidad. He is also survived by sisters, Catherine Degi, Colorado Springs; Caroline Cordova, Colorado Springs, Brothers in law, Anthony Abeyta and Raymond Mondragon and numerous nephews and nieces. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren and special friends Al Sanchez and Ramsey Ramirez. Joe proudly served in the United States Army as a tank driver during post-occupational Germany in World War II from 1946-1950 in Augsburg, Germany, and was given an Honorable Discharge and was the recipient of many awards during this time. Besides driving tanks, he also had to fix them when they broke down. Because of the powertrains in the tanks, he had experience working with Cadillac engines and transmissions. This eventually led to a lifelong career as an auto mechanic. Joe was also an accomplished carpenter and woodworker. He crafted many showcase pieces of furniture. He was also a talented jewelry maker, crossword expert and loved to tie fishing flies. He was most outstanding in his role as a husband, father and grandfather. His family will miss his presence, guidance, and the deep love he had for family and intense love for his Lord Jesus Christ. His memory will be etched in their hearts forever. Military graveside services will be given.

Visitation will be held at the Comi Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday from 3pm-7pm.
Funeral services will be held at First Christian Church on Friday, September 6, 2019 at 10am with Pastor Cary Nelson officiating.
Burial to follow at the Trinidad Catholic Cemetery, with graveside services conducted by Ft. Cason Honor Guard.
The family respectfully requests the omission of flowers.
