December 22, 1930 – August 20, 2019
Nancy Mae (Bauler) Fluhman, age 88, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, August 20, 2019 in Dalhart, Texas.
Nancy was born December 22, 1930 in Mills, New Mexico to John and Iris (Lolamaugh) Bauler. Nancy grew up on a small ranch and farm northeast of Mills along with eight brothers and six sisters. She attended and graduated from Springer High School in Springer New Mexico. At a very young age, Nancy went to work for the T.O. Ranch as a baby sitter and cook. On June 14, 1952, she married Tony Fluhman and moved to the Fluhman ranch in Mills, where they raised 5 boys – of which were two sets of twins. Even though she was busy farming, ranching and raising boys, she found time to also do the things that she enjoyed such as quilting, gardening, square dancing, playing cards and dominoes with her family and numerous friends. Nancy lived most of her life on the family farm and ranch in Mills, but was very involved in many community organizations within the communities of Roy, Gladstone and the County of Harding. She was a member of the United Chruch of Roy, which she attended every Sunday for over sixty years. She was also very active with the Wheatland Quilting Club, Harding County Fair Board, and the Roy Woman’s Club. You would see Nancy working the flower beds at the United Church of Roy and at the Pendleton Park in Roy every time she was in town in the spring, summers and fall until she could no longer physically do the work as she loved a beautiful flower garden and wanted to provide a beautiful place for the community. Nancy was a “behind the scenes” person who helped people in many ways without anyone knowing as she had a servant’s heart. She was a role model and teacher to many people during her years serving the community.
In October 2016, Nancy moved to Herford Texas so she could spend more time with her two remaining sisters and a brother before moving to Dalhart Texas in April of 2019 to be closer to her sons.
