Elizabeth Margaret Bennett, age 102, passed away Thursday, July 25, 2019 in Raton, NM. She was born in Cimarron, NM, the daughter of Richard S. and Lena Gaskin. She attended Cimarron Schools and graduated from Raton High School. She was a graduate of St. Joseph’s Hospital School of Nursing in Albuquerque, NM, and was a registered nurse at Miner’s Hospital, Raton, NM for a number of years. She later was the office manager for Bennett’s Transportation. She was a member of the “Stitch and Chatter Club” and the NM Nurses Association. Elizabeth will be remembered by many for her clothes and accessories.
Elizabeth is preceded in death by her parents, husband Sherman, brothers and sister, James, William, Isabel Peryatel, and Bob, and many friends. She is survived by her daughter Marlene Nystul and husband Raymond of Maxwell, and son James S. Bennett of Raton, granddaughter Jaime Nystul of Maxwell and three step grandchildren of Wyoming, Stacey, Ray III, Clint, and their families. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Enurnment services will be Saturday, August 17, 2019 at 1:30 PM at the Fairmont Cemetery in Raton.
