In Loving Memory of Tom Lopez

Tom Lopez age 88, born on March 7, 1931 in Taylor Springs, NM to Pedro Lopez and Pablita Blea de Lopez. Tom passed into eternity on Tuesday May 28, 2019 at his home in Albuquerque, after a two- and one-half year battle with Parkinson’s and Lewy Body Dementia.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary Frances Lopez (2005), his firstborn daughter Mary Diane Gallegos (2015) and his grandson, Pete Lawrence Lopez Jr. (2018).

Tom is survived by his four children: Pete Lopez Sr. and wife Kathy of Rio Rancho; Jimmy Lopez and wife Tina of Albuquerque; Elma Lopez of Albuquerque; Helen Schmidt and husband Paul of Albuquerque; five grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; two sisters; Emily Fernandez; Carmen Balizan and husband Reynaldo. Tom was also survived by other family members and friends.

Tom’s celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Springer, NM. Rosary will be at 9:30 a.m. recited by the Knight’s of Columbus followed by the Solemn Mass of The Resurrection at 10:00 a.m. with Father Daniel Balizan as the Celebrant. Inurnment will follow at the Springer Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Nathan Lopez, Jimmy Gallegos lll, Thomas Gallegos, Anthony Lopez. Honorary pallbearers: Pete Lopez Sr. and Paul Schmidt. Please join the family following the burial for a meal at St. Josephs Parish Hall in Springer.

His family would like to express their appreciation to Legacy Hospice Homecare, his nurse Davery Gallegos; shower aid. Raylena Ives; Social Worker, Aliyyah Sumner and many others for their compassionate care of our dad. We love you all. We are grateful for many caregivers; Lora Clark, Jennifer Wilmer, Jenna Moyers, Maria Rodriguez, Charnea Yazza, Elaine Wittenstorm and others. Thank you for Pastor Keith Skaggs who visited every week and read the Bible and pray with him and for those who ministered the servant’s hands who prepared and planned the services.

Arrangements for Tom Lopez are under the direction of the Alderette-Pomeroy Funeral Home of Raton, NM.
