Local artist Dino Cornay recently traveled to Kansas City, MO to witness one of his graphite drawings entitled “Timeless” go up for auction to benefit the Hereford Youth Foundation of America (HYFA) which provides scholarship opportunities to the farming and ranching youth tuned into the Hereford cattle breed. “The Hereford Youth Foundation of America’s mission is to encourage, recognize and reward the development of life skills and values in the next generation of leaders by providing education, scholarship and leadership opportunities for Hereford Youth.”
The drawing was purchased by a syndicate of Barber Ranches, Channing, Texas, Colyer Herefords, Bruneau, Idaho, Bill King Ranch, Moriarty, New Mexico, and Cottonwood Springs Polled Herefords, Cedar, Michigan. The drawing sold for $27,000 and was more than half of the almost $50,000 raised at the event.
Dino, accompanied by cousin Jeff Cornay traveled from Folsom, NM to be present at the auction said, “I am extremely honored to be the artist selected for this project portraying a great breed of cattle and to have worked with some fabulous people, including the directors and those that purchased the art. It is also an honor to be part of a great scholarship program for our young leaders and to have the original drawing hanging at the national Hereford headquarters in Kansas City.” The article states that “Cornay’s drawing effortlessly depicts the permanent stamp the Hereford breed has placed on the beef industry, bringing to life a horned and polled Hereford bull with a young calf to illustrate the generations of history and progress within the breed.”

The beef industry is lucky to have such a talented spokesman in their corner and our corner of the world is blessed to have such a great man and artist in it’s midst.
