Shirley “Buscarini” Pate joined her loving family upon her passing on June 8, 2019.
As the youngest daughter of Virgil and Della Buscarini she lived a full life growing up in Raton. Proceeding her in passing were sisters Aldena Valentine, Mary McCoy, Florence Jones and favorite brother, Virgil Buscarini and her husband of 40 years, Jesse Pate. She is survived by Virginia Buscarini, Wesley and Betty Brown and several nieces and nephews and of course friends.
Shirley spoke many times of her employment at J.J. Newberry’s and their family restaurant Della’s Shady Lane Restaurant on the Hwy 87/64 Hwy. She then moved to Albuquerque where she worked for Mountain Bell phone company and met her loving husband Jesse Pate. Always ready for new adventures they moved to the Washington D.C. area and traveled to many places in the United States and foreign countries. Shirley loved the Southwest and was enamored with Native American Jewelry and Art. She wore her jewelry with great pride and pleasure.
The couple retired to the Phoenix area until poor health moved them back to Raton as requested by her favorite brother, Virgil Buscarini. Also, at his request, Dan and Teni Puryear provided loving care for both of them adding joy and quality of life for their final days. Our family would like to thank the Hospice team and the Medical providers and staff at MCMC for their professionalism. Also, thank you to Sandra and Jill for their help and care when needed. Recitation Of The Most Holy Rosary will be held Friday June 14, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick’s/ St. Josph’s Catholic Church recited by Deacon Thomas Alderette followed by Solemn Mass of the Resurrection at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick’s/St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with Father Bill Woytavitch as the Celebrant. Rite of Committal and Internment will follow at Fairmont Cemetery.
Services are under the direction of Alderette-Pomeroy Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Shirley’s name to Raton Hospice Services or Raton Humane Society at PO Box 1321, Raton, NM 87740.
