In Loving Memory of Jose E. (Ernest) Trujillo

Jose E. (Ernest Trujillo, age 91 of Raton, passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2019 in Raton, New Mexico. He was born July 22, 1927 in Segundo, Colorado, the oldest son of Joe V. (Ben) and Emma Duran-Trujillo. He was a retired miner of forty-three years where he worked for the St Louis/Rocky Mountain and Pacific Mine, Kaiser Steel Mine and York Canyon Mine, when he retired in 1986.  Earnest was a veteran of WWII serving as a Sergeant in the United States Army, and a member of St. Patrick’s-St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Raton.  He loved playing golf, working in his yard and spending time with his family and numerous grandchildren, whom he loved dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Emma Trujillo, four brothers, David, Eddie, Chuck and Ben Trujillo, and four sisters, Marie Ortega, Theresa Martinez, Rosie Marquez and Patsy Sisneros.

He is survived by his wife of seventy one years, Annie Trujillo of the home and two brothers, Filbert Trujillo of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Nash Trujillo of Albuquerque, New Mexico; as well as his sons, Jose E. (Butch) Trujillo, Jr. and girlfriend Josephine Cortez, of Raton, New Mexico and Robert Trujillo and wife Gloria of Carlsbad, New Mexico and his daughter Barbara Day and husband Howard of Lubbock, Texas.  Ernest had 7 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 16 great-great grandchildren.

Recitation of the Most Holy Rosary will be Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at 10:00 AM at St. Patrick’s – St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Raton recited by Frank Cimino Jr. Mass of the Resurrection will follow at 10:30 AM with Father William Woytavich as the celebrant. Rite of Christian burial will be in the Mt. Calvary cemetery in Raton.

Arrangements and celebration of love for Jose E. (Ernest) Trujillo are under the direction of the Yaksich-Long Funeral Home of Raton.
