In Loving Memory of Delroy Poole

Delroy Poole, age 89, went to be with our Lord on February 22, 2019. Delroy was born on November 14, 1929 to Lena (Jackson) and Odell Poole in Silverton, Texas. After serving his country in the U.S. Air Force for 4 years during the Korean Conflict, Delroy came back to Trinidad and hired out on the old C + S Railroad as a locomotive fireman. Later he worked for the Burlington Northern Railroad as a locomotive engineer. His railroad career lasted for over 42 years until his retirement in 1993. Delroy made many friends in the area and bowled on many leagues over the years. It was a passion that brought him a great deal of pleasure and he won many trophies along the way. He also loved to do carpentry work and was always working on projects. Delroy was kind and gentle; he had the biggest heart, playful sense of humor, and a willingness to help others. He took great pride in his family and loved them all unconditionally.

Delroy was preceded in death by his parents Lena and Odell and his sister Dorothy Bird of San Antonio, Texas. He is survived by his wife of 62 years Alice K. Poole. They were blessed by one daughter Linda (Jeff) Poole of Trinidad; three grandchildren Tony (Jamie) Poole, Katrina Poole, and Kalena Larson all of Trinidad; and three great grandchildren Aiden Poole, Ryleigh Poole, and Logan Gates. He is also survived by sisters Emelie Jane Poole of Hermiston, Oregon; Mary Alice Milinazzo of Trinidad; Debbie (Rich) Padilla of Trinidad; and brother Bill (Cindy) Poole of Bon Carbo, as well as several nieces and nephews. By Delroy’s request, private services will be held at a later date.
