Frances S. Martinez of Raton passed away on January 13, 2019. She was born on May 8, 1924 to the late Jose Amado Sena and Dulcinea Jacoby Sena in Shomberg, NM. She was raised in Maxwell, NM where she met and married Joe Martinez on May 11, 1940. They traveled and lived in various places during their marriage while Joe worked construction and Frances had many interesting stories to tell of their experiences during their travels. Frances worked at a bakery and also at a day care center which she really enjoyed. Although she and Joe had no children, they were Godparents to several and always enjoyed being around children. They had many wonderful years together until Joe’s passing in 2016.
Frances is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. She was a resident of MCMC Long Term or the last year and a half of her life and the family would like to extend their gratitude to all the staff for their loving care of her. She enjoyed attending Rosary at the Long-Term Chapel, playing bingo and participating in other activities during her stay there. She was a very loving, kind and generous woman and will be deeply missed.
Frances had 6 siblings who all predeceased her: Anna Sena Gallegos, Louis Sena, John Serafin Sena, Antonino J. Sena and Gabriela (Grace) Sena Diehl, and Dulcinea Sena Mitchell.
Frances was a member of the St. Patrick’s-St. Joseph’s Catholic Parish.
A viewing for Frances will be held Thursday, January 17, 2019 from 2-4 P.M. in the Chapel of the Alderette-Pomeroy Funeral Home. Recitation of The Most Holy Rosary will be held on Friday, January 18, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick’s-St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, followed by a Mass of The Resurrection at 10:30 a.m. With Father Bill Woytavich as the Celebrant. Rite of Committal and Interment to take place at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery. The family invites friends to join the family to share a meal the Parish Hall afterwards.
