LaVonne Marie Record was born June 23, 1932 in Pierce, Nebraska to Edwin and Verne (Fry) Reed, the youngest of 5 children. She married the love of her life, Irwin “Bud” Record on May 27, 1951 in Nebraska. Together, they had two sons, Marty Irwin Record and Jeffrey Reed Record.
They were successful independent shopkeepers, first with service stations in Nebraska; Hood River, Oregon; and Santa Maria, California. They ran a small-town grocery and general goods store in Big Creek, California, in 1978, they came to Raton, New Mexico, first running the Coast-to-Coast hardware store, and later, with their sons, Record’s Rental and Record’s Ace Hardware.
LaVonne was preceded in death by her husband Bud, Her Parents, and her brothers Robert and Donald “Drake” Reed. She is survived by her siblings Ruth Reed Avakian, and Vernon “Chick” Reed and wife Dolores. She is also survived by her two sons, Marty Record and Jeff (Sonja) Record, and four grandchildren who were the light of her life – Elizabeth Record, Sarah Record, Danny Record, and Brian Record – as well as several nieces and nephews and their Children. She was dearly loved and will be missed.

A memorial service will be at the Yaksich-Long Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at 2:00 PM with Monty McGowen officiating.
