In Loving Memory of Louie Mestas Jr.

Louie Mestas Jr. entered into Gods peaceful rest on December 12, 2018. He was born on January 22, 1947 in Raton, N.M. to Louie Sr. and Severiana Mestas.

Louie was a coal miner scraper operator on the strip mine at the York Canyon Coal Mine, Badge #267 and retired with The Pittsburgh and Midway Coal Mining Company. He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America for 47 years.

Louie also served with the Army National Guard.

His favorite pass time was listening to Spanish music on Sunday afternoon, watching football, fishing, playing BINGO, traveling, doing crosswords puzzles and spending time with his daughters and grandchildren.

Louie was preceded in death by his parents Louie Sr and Severiana Mestas, Brother Daniel and sisters Dolores and May Ann. Maternal grandparents Jacob and Ofelia Sanchez and Parental grandparents, Teofilo and Genoeva Mestas.

He leaves behind his three daughters, Lisa Martinez and companion Sam Martinez, Shaeryn Broderick and husband Bryan and Terrilyn Mestas all of Raton. Six grandchildren, Desiree Martinez, Ravyn Martinez, Lance Martinez, Dyllan Jones, Eythan Jones, and Jheydan Chavez. Three great-grandchildren, Zacharias Apodaca, Patrick Martinez Jr. and Alexia Martinez.

Sisters Anna Mendez and husband George and Jenny Salazar and husband Edward all of Raton.

He also leaves behind his dearly loved two best friends, Julio Trujillo and Mary Encinias. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Louie was a very loving man and with an abundant sense of humor, he also had a beautiful gift of giving. He brought love and laughter to all those who know him. No life was left untouched by him. He truly made a difference in this lifetime. He will always be dearly loved and missed.

Funeral Service for Louie Mestas Jr. will be held on Tuesday December 18, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of the Alderette-Pomeroy Funeral Home with Josh Duran Officiating. Internment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Arrangements for Louie Mestas Jr. are under the direction of the Alderette-Pomeroy Funeral Home.
