Become an Elementary Teacher Without Leaving Trinidad

October 26, 2018  Trinidad State Junior College and the University of Colorado Denver are exploring a partnership that would allow you to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education without leaving home!  It’s called TPREP (The Partnership for Rural Educator Preparation).

This is a partnership between Trinidad area school districts, the University of Colorado Denver and Trinidad State.  The TPREP program includes required field experience in local elementary schools for four years.

This program allows students to build local in-school relationships with elementary teachers and administrators.  The program will include strong support from peers, mentors and faculty.  When possible, students will be given credit for past college credit.

Here’s how it would work:

  • Take two years of education classes and earn an Associate of Arts degree at Trinidad State.
  • Follow with two years of University of Colorado education courses at Trinidad State.
  • Earn a Bachelor’s degree and get a Colorado teaching license after successful completion of the program.

University of Colorado – Denver & TSJC will be visiting these school districts to talk more about the program – this is open to community members.
