James “Jim” Rigoni, 63, passed away on August 24, 2018 in Albuquerque, NM. Jim was born May 15, 1955, to Tony and Susanna (Monnet) Rigoni in Springer, NM. Jim married Danette Porterfield in 1984 at the Magistrate Court in Roy, NM where they made their home. Jim was a rancher all his life. In addition to being a rancher, Jim was a master of most everything he put his mind to, preferring to do things himself; Jim also drove the school bus for the Roy School District for 25 years, retiring in 2010. Jim was a man who was proud of his community; always willing to help in any way that he could. He spent 27 years helping the youth in his community as a member and president of the Harding County Fair board, a coach and member of the Roy Pee Wee Basketball program, coaching many of the teams that his children were on. During his 30 year tenure as a member and Chief of the Harding County Volunteer Fire Department, he was instrumental in building the Department to it’s highest level. He was dedicated to making things better than he found them and was known as someone who could be depended on to get the job done right.
Jim was a man who cherished his family, a man who took the time to teach his children everything that he could. Jim did not do things the easy way, he did them ‘the right way’; his children grew up knowing that while the task they were doing was not the easiest, there was a lesson to be learned. Jim was a devoted grandfather who would do anything for his three grandsons. James was preceded in death by his parents, Tony and Susanna Rigoni. He is survived by his wife Danette Rigoni, daughters Danae Rigoni, Stefanie Fischbacher (spouse, Corey Fischbacher), Andrea Rigoni, and son Anthony Rigoni (Christopher Wiberg); grandsons Rio Rigoni, Rye Fischbacher, and Jack Fischbacher; sisters Mae Shaw and Henrietta Rigoni. Of all things in life, Jim cherished his family, his children, and grandchildren above all.
