Boyce Richard “Rick” Hood, age 82, died Tuesday, August 14, 2018, in Clayton, New Mexico.

Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday August 18, 2018 at the Mountain View Cemetery in Cimarron, New Mexico with Pastor Terrell Jones, pastor of the Trinity Fellowship Church in Clayton, New Mexico, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton, New Mexico.

Boyce Richard “Rick” Hood was born on August 3, 1936 in Texarkana, Arkansas to Boyce Whitney Hood and Claudine (Teasdale) Hood. Rick grew up in Arkansas and in the Dallas, Texas area and was working with a road construction crew in Cimarron, New Mexico where he met Ocie Ellen Hine. They fell in love and were later married in 1962 in Dallas, Texas and she preceded him in death on July 19, 1990. Rick served in the U.S. Army for four years and worked as a rancher most of his life while also working as a New Mexico State Police officer for several years, a city police officer in Cimarron, New Mexico and he also worked at the New Mexico Boys School in Springer. In addition to his wife, Rick was also preceded in death by his father on June 30, 1979 and by his mother on February 14, 1984.

SURVIVORS:

1 Daughter: Rhonda Wingo and her husband Carl of Grenville, New Mexico.

2 SONS: Ray Hood and his wife Gina of San Antonio, Texas and Rodney Hood of Springer, New Mexico.

6 GRANDCHILDREN: Sheryl Hood of Tampa, Florida, Jennifer Comstock of Maxwell, New Mexico, Josh Hood of Alamogordo, New Mexico, Lindsey Huesing of San Antonio, Texas, Ryan Wingo of Des Moines, New Mexico and Danie Wingo of Albuquerque, New Mexico.

9 Great-Grandchildren and one on the way.
