In Loving Memory of Wilbert Eugene “Wid” Stevenson

Wilbert Eugene “Wid” Stevenson, age 89, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, May 20, 2018 in Dalhart, Texas.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at the Hayden Cemetery in Hayden, New Mexico. Arrangements are under the direction of Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton, New Mexico.

Wid was born at home on March 1, 1929 in Hayden, New Mexico to James Hugh Stevenson and Una Mae (Combs) Stevenson. He lived at Hayden, New Mexico from birth until November of 2014 when he moved to Dalhart, Texas. He married Millie Mae (Dale) Stevenson on May 21, 1949 in Mora, New Mexico. Together they made a living ranching in the Hayden, New Mexico area and she preceded him in death on May 17, 2015. For many years Wid gave out candy every where he went and to whomever he could, so he will forever be known as the “candy man”. In addition to his wife and parents, Wid was preceded in death by four sisters; Rubye Eikner, Dorothy Bray, Louetta Beasley and Madge Howe and by two brothers; James Otis Stevenson and Thomas Clifford Stevenson.

He is survived by those who affectionately called him “Grumpy”:

3 DAUGHTERS: Patsy Gordon and her husband Hardy and Luanne Stephens and her husband Austin all of Dalhart, Texas and Debra Stevenson of Clovis, New Mexico.

1 SON: Ralph Stevenson and his wife Elaine of Hayden, New Mexico.

5 GRANDCHILDREN: Darnell Wilkerson and her husband Todd, Shad Stephens and Garrett Stephens and his wife Margaret all of Dalhart, Texas, Traver Stevenson and his wife Jenna of Hayden, New Mexico and Trey Stevenson of Amarillo, Texas.

10 Great-grandchildren.

1 SISTER: Faye Brannon of Lockney, Texas.
