In Loving Memory of Reverend Tom E. Martinez

Reverend Tom E. Martinez was called home to be with our Lord and Savior March 8, 2018. He was born October 12, 1936 in Raton, NM to the late Samuel Martinez and Senovia Portillos. Those left to cherish his memory is his wife Jovida Grant Martinez of Lubbock, children Samuel Martinez and LaNelle Martinez both of Lubbock, grandchildren; Elissa, Annabelle and Isabelle Martinez of Clovis, brother Andy Portillos of Albuquerque, and sister Erlinda Philips of Raton, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his stepfather Pete Portillos, sister Delores Martinez, daughters; Nellen Martinez and Rachel Martinez. Tom graduated from the New Mexico school for the blind, then went on to attended Wayland Baptist University, and the furthered his education at Denver University with a Master’s Degree. He went on to be the pastor of two churches in Clovis, NM; where he married numerous couples, and was very passionate about his work in the church. He loved to speak and teach the word of God, sing church hymns, and willing to help any one in need. Tomas also enjoyed fishing, working on cars, and just visiting with family and friends. He was a caring and loving husband, father, brother, and friend who will be greatly missed by all.
