In Loving Memory of Ursulita Grano

Funeral Mass for Ursulita Grano will be held at 11:15 am on March 1, 2018 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Springer, New Mexico with Father Daniel Balizan, officiating. A rosary service will be held before her funeral mass at St. Joseph’s and will begin at 10:30. Following the funeral mass, Mrs. Grano will be laid to rest next to her husband at Springer Cemetery. A viewing for Ursulita will be held on February 28 2018 from 5 P.M. till 7 P.M. in the Chapel of the Alderette-Pomeroy Funeral Home.

GranoUrsulitaUrsulita went home to be with our Lord on February 25, 2018. She was born on March 26, 1922 in Wagon Mound, New Mexico to Jose and Felicita DeHerrera. In March of 1950, she married the love of her life, PFC Augustine Grano. Together, they built a life and raised a big family in Springer, NM.

Ursulita enjoyed teaching her children and grandchildren about the Roman Catholic faith. She shared her joy with others through her homemade jams, cookies, breads, and tortillas (just to name a few). Ursulita absolutely LOVED to cook and taught many of her grandchildren the art of making her signature recipes.

Ursulita was an active member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Springer where she was an altar society member and distributor of the Miraculous Medal. Ursulita frequented the nursing home and shared her homemade goods with the elderly and provided her loving company.

In her later years, Ursulita moved to Hobbs, NM to be near her children and was a member of St. Helena Catholic Church.

Ursulita is preceded in death by her beloved husband, PFC Augustine Grano; a son, Augustine Grano, Jr.; her parents, Jose & Felicita DeHerrera; two brothers, Ramon & Rafael; a granddaughter, Quinn Sky Grano and a son-in-law, Tony Biswell.

Ursulita is survived by nine sons and daughters; Jesse Hererra, Stella Romero, Frances Abeyta, Jayne Biswell, Carlos Grano & wife Sara, Alex Grano & wife Beverly, Phyllis Grano, Michael Grano & wife Lourdes, and David Grano & wife Karole. She is also survived by 25 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
