Weldon Ray Sims, age 82, died Saturday, April 1, 2017 in Clayton, New Mexico.
Cremation has taken place and memorial graveside services will be held at a later date in the Happy Cemetery in Happy, Texas. Cremation arrangements were by Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton, New Mexico.
Weldon Ray Sims was born on June 28, 1934 in Tulia, Texas to Matthew John Sims and Lena Mae (Sterling) Sims.
He was raised in Happy, Texas with five siblings. Weldon graduated from Happy High School in 1951. He thought that Ann Magness was the prettiest girl he had ever seen when he stepped off a school bus in the fourth grade. He told himself at that early age that he would marry her someday and the couple wed on September 1, 1951. They lived in various places throughout their marriage and Weldon worked several different jobs. The couple finally settled in Dumas, Texas. Ann died on October 5, 1995. Weldon retired from Jack Oldham Oil in 1996. Weldon moved to Clayton, New Mexico in 2010 to live with his daughter Kimberly. He loved to fish and buy lottery tickets and being with his family. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by 4 brothers; Leo Sims, Morris Sims, Eugene Sims and Harold Sims and a sister; Nelda Sims Oler.
SURVIVORS:
2 DAUGHTERS: Kimberly Sims Heimann and her husband JayDee of Clayton, New Mexico and Karen Sims Terrel and her husband Philip of Darrouzett, Texas.
5 GRANDCHILDREN: Cody Heimann and his wife Hesper and Myah Heiman Crisp and her husband Billy all of Clayton, New Mexico, Quentin Terrel of Derby, Kansas, Brooks Terrel Annis and her husband Andrew of Bison, Oklahoma and Eric Terrel of Urbana, Ohio.
6 Great-Grandchildren: Wyatt and Rhett Heimann, Mason, McKinlee and Mandy Crisp and Aiden Annis.
And numerous nieces and nephews.
