Dick D. Gonzales, age 96 of Raton NM, passed away Thursday, December 1, 2016.
He was born on December 31, 1919 in Barney, New Mexico, to Dionicio and Igneseta Gonzales.
Dick served in WWII as an Antitank Gun Crewman and as a cook. Dick was also known as a Golden Glove Boxer. He enjoyed hunting, fishing horse racing and was well known for his wonderful tamales. Dick also enjoyed playing cards and dominoes which many could tell you he took very “serious”!
He was preceded in death by his parents and seven sisters and one brother.
He is survived by his daughter Louella Madrid and husband Juan of Hemet, CA, daughter Agnes Borges of San Clemente, CA. Connie Hester and husband John of Raton, NM and daughter Dixie Nance and husband BC of Victoria, Texas. Sons Richard “Buddy” Gonzales of Raton, NM, Ronnie Gonzales of Raton, NM, and Carl Gonzales and wife Dolores of Maxwell, NM. Also, survived are numerous grandkids and great grandkids.
Recitation of the Most Holy Rosary will be at St. Joseph’s/St. Patrick’s Catholic Church on Monday, December 19th, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. with Deacon Tom Alderette. Solemn Mass of the Resurrection will follow at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph’s/St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with Father Bill Woytavich officiating. Rite of committal and inurnment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements for Dick D. Gonzales are under the direction of the Alderette-Pomeroy Funeral Home.
