Sylvia Payson, age 92, died Thursday, May 12, 2016 in Clayton, New Mexico.

BACKGROUND: Sylvia Payson was born on January 1, 1924 in Claremore, Oklahoma to Norman Payson and Sophie (Coon) Payson. She was raised in Bayfield, Colorado and graduated from Bayfield High School. She attended the Dale Carnegie School of Business and the Dorothy Ferrier Modeling School both in San Francisco, California. Sylvia managed many businesses around New Mexico and Colorado and owned and operated many restaurants. She moved to Clayton in the early 1980’s to manage the Eklund until she retired. She was preceded in death by her parents and by 2 brothers and a sister.

2 DAUGHTERS: Shannon Mitchell of Clayton, New Mexico and Denise Morris and her husband Buddy of Farmington, New Mexico.
5 GRANDCHILDREN: Fauna Mitchell of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Forrest Mitchell of Oro Valley, Arizona, Vaughn Morris of Bayfield, Colorado, Troy Morris of Aztec, New Mexico and Tammy Kerlin of Bordentown, New Jersey.
And nine great-grandchildren.
