Filbert J. Roybal Jr, “14”, passed away on December 12, 2015 at St. Mary’s Corwin Hospital in Pueblo, CO. at the age of 79.
He was born in Bon Carbo, CO, to Anna (Sandoval) and Filbert J. Roybal Sr. After his mother’s death, he was raised by his step mother Frances Roybal.
He attended area schools and was a 1956 graduate of Holy Trinity High School.
On December 21, he was united in marriage to Bonnie J. Babbitt in Pueblo, CO.
He was a coal miner having worked in area mines for 20 until he retired. He was a member of UMWA Local 9856.
Filbert loved caring for his lawn and flowers. He liked to “tinker” in his garage and was very meticulous in all his planning and daily life.
Filbert was a loving grandfather and enjoyed being with all of his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by parents, Annie and Filbert Roybal, step mother Frances Roybal, and sister Blanche Torres.
He is survived by wife, Bonnie of home address, children Lori Navarette, James (Christie) Roybal, Jeff (Jennifer) Roybal, all of Trinidad, grandchildren, Kyle and Stephany Navarette, Brandon, Colton, Leland, and Maiya Roybal and Jacob Lubischer.
FIlbert is also survived by sisters Jennie (James) Patton, Evelyn (Wade) Van Matre, Theresa Roybal all of Pueblo, Julia (Joe) Trujillo, Jansen, brothers Frank (Ruth) Roybal, Rye, Richard (Debbie) Roybal, Trinidad, David (Irene) Roybal, Valdez, Michael Roybal, Pueblo, Tommy Roybal, Tejeras, brother in law, Gilbert Torres, Trinidad, numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, December 18, 2015 with Liturgy of the Word at 1PM at Holy Trinity Church.
Private inurnment at a later date.
Arrangements made under the direction of the Comi Funeral Home.
