Steven Michael Martinez went to be with his Lord in Heaven on November 9, 2015 in Santa Fe, New Mexico. He was born in Raton, New Mexico on April 19, 1962. He was 53 years old.
Steven was a loving son, brother, father and friend with a heart of gold. He will be remembered by those who had the pleasure of knowing him for his outgoing personality, unbelievable faith in God and most of all for being a truly amazing artist – with pencil being his medium of choice.
Steven was preceded in death by his brother and best friend, Anthony “Sam” Martinez, his grandparents Benito and Senaida Valenzuela and William and Florence Martinez.
Steven is survived by his parents Bill and Tina Martinez of Raton, sister Mona Martinez of Raton, daughter Marlaina Martinez (Abrum Griego) of Pueblo, Colorado and son Michael Steven Martinez (Kara Lucero) of Denver, Colorado. He is also survived by his grandchildren Leyla, Nevaeh and Tyler Abrum Griego of Pueblo and King Diego Martinez of Denver, Colorado. In addition, Steven is survived by his nephews Kevin Martinez of Raton, Anthony Martinez Jr. of Rio Rancho and niece April Martinez of Albuquerque. Steven is survived by numerous family members and close friends, including his long-time companion in life, Patsy Fratterelli.
Recitation of the Most Holy Rosary will take place on Saturday, November 14, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick-St. Joseph’s Catholic Church recited by Deacon Thomas Alderette. Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 11:00 a.m. with Father John Trambley as the celebrant. Rite of Committal and interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Alderette-Pomeroy Funeral Home of Raton.
