Geneva Mary (Ortiz) Jones, age 90 passed away at home in Trinidad, Colorado on November 2, 2015 surrounded by her family after a short battle with cancer.
She was born in Raton, New Mexico, on September 9, 1925 to John Pete and Sara Martinez.
Geneva was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She loved spending time with family while she shared her stories and made all her family laugh. She also loved to sit in her recliner watching western movies with her loving companion Snowball. Throughout her life she overcame many obstacles, but through it all, she always remained positive, loving, and caring. Her heart and house were open to all. Geneva’s love and ever pleasant smile will be missed and she will always be loved by many.
Preceding her in death are parents John Pete and Sara Martinez, husbands Tom Ortiz, Ray Dominguez, and most recent Robert Jones, daughter Sophie Gerardo, brothers Felix Martinez, Soloman Martinez, Pete Martinez, grandchildren David Rael, Valerie Martinez, Jesse Kiefer, Adrian Moreno, Mark McPeak, Danny Gerardo, Nash Gerardo, and Mario Gerardo and great-grandchildren.
Survivors are children, Jennie (Michael) Rael, Trinidad; Sara (Albert) Garcia, Trinidad; Rose (Rudy) Dominguez, Trinidad; John (Marilyn) Ortiz, Trinidad; Nellie (Carlos) Moreno, Colorado Springs; Frances (Rick) Chacon, Colorado Springs; Virginia (Richard) Baca, Trinidad; Lynda (Tony) Kiefer, Colorado Springs;
Ray (Tammy) Dominguez, Colorado Springs.
Numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and great-great-great- grandchildren, nieces, nephews sister in law, Nora Torres, Trinidad, CO, and other relatives.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Carlos Ortiz, John Barrera, Chris Rael, Anthony Martinez, Al Valdez, Brian Martinez, John Dominguez, Steven Dominguez, Matthew Dominguez, Travis Dominguez, Richard Baca, Aaron Kiefer, Rich Ortiz, Pat Ortiz, Tom Ortiz, Vince Ortiz, and Jacob Ortiz.
Active Pallbearers will be Michael Rael Jr., Tommy Martinez, Rudy Dominguez Jr., Ed John Ortiz, William McPeak, Joe Kiefer, and Richie Kiefer.
Visitation will be Monday from 2PM-6PM at the Comi Chapel.
Rosary will be recited Monday November 9, 2015 at 7PM at Holy Trinity Church.
Funeral Mass will be Tuesday, November 10, 2015 ay 10AM at Holy Trinity Church.
Interment with Rite of Committal will follow at the Trinidad Catholic Cemetery.
