Raton, NM – On Saturday, October 31, 2015, around 3:00 a.m., officers from the New Mexico State Police responded to the scene of a crash which occurred near milepost 433 on Interstate 25, south of Raton.
The preliminary investigation indicated a 2014 Freightliner commercial vehicle was traveling southbound on Interstate 25 near milepost 433 and struck a pedestrian walking in the right lane of the roadway. The pedestrian, identified as Atkocuiunas Vitalijus (61) of Phoenix, AZ, sustained fatal injuries from the collision and pronounced deceased.
No other injuries were reported. Alcohol is not believed to have been a factor in this crash.
This crash is still under investigation and no further details are available.
