It took commissioners about 17 minutes to get through their very short agenda Tuesday night.
Commissioners approved the route and paperwork associated with the Annual Brest Cancer Awareness Walk which will start at Ripley Park at about 8:00 a.m. and proceed down Second Street to the Oasis Restaurant and back.
Commissioners then heard from City Manager Butch McGowen about Amtrak indicating there is a meeting in Pueblo Saturday and there maybe a quorum of city commissioners depending on who goes. McGowen noted that it will likely require another rolling resolution to fund Amtrak for the next year.
City officials have met with Homeland Security concerning flood damage and are hoping that there will be a presidential declaration. The declaration will bring FEMA in with funding that will only require a 12.5% match for the city and a 12.5% match from the state with the remainder coming from the federal government. If the declaration doesn’t come through it would mean a 25% match for the city.
The Raton Senior Citizen building repair is moving forward with the scope of work being designated and bids put out.
Commissioners will meet again on September 24, 2013 for their next regular meeting.
