Leroy A. Maes Sr., 63, of Raton, New Mexico, passed away on October 15, 2026.
Leroy was born on July 25, 1963, to Abenicio Ben Maes and Henrietta B. Maes of Raton, New Mexico.
Leroy dedicated 30 years of service to the City of Raton, where he worked faithfully until his retirement in January 2021. Throughout his life, Leroy enjoyed working on vehicles, riding his Harleys, fishing, taking scenic rides, and, most importantly, spending quality time with his family and friends. These were the things that brought him happiness and created many cherished memories with those who knew and loved him.
Leroy is survived by his two sons, Leroy M. Maes Jr. and his wife, Heather, of Raton, New Mexico, and Abenicio Ben Maes of Pensacola, Florida.
He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren: Kaylee Maes, Mylah Maes, Abenicio Maes Jr., Jaylyn Maes, Leah Maes, and Naveah Maes, all of Raton, New Mexico. In addition, Leroy leaves behind many dear friends in Raton who will forever cherish the memories they shared with him.
Leroy was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Jimmy Chavez.
Leroy will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His love for his family, his passion for the things he enjoyed, and the memories he created throughout his life will forever remain in the hearts of those he leaves behind. Though he is no longer with us, his legacy will live on through his children, grandchildren, family, and friends.
Forever loved, forever remembered, and forever missed.
